Merry Christmas

I've seen a lot of interesting gift ideas, but these just left me speechless. I'm not sure how exactly I feel about it. Take a sec and take a look at

The kiddos are well. The other day Hannah told us that her little friend Nate has a 'crunch' on her. I thought I was going to fall off the chair I was sitting on. Later on she told Zach that he had to let go of her diarrhea- she meant diary- a bit of a difference there.

E last night gave us a scare and a trip to the hospital. We were at some friends house and she was playing with Brian and my mom and suddenly wouldn't use her right arm and just whimpered. After a call to the pediatrician, we were off to the hospital for 'nurse maid elbow'. They did this quick little thing to her arm and she was all better a few minutes later. She wasn't too happy about any of it. After they fixed her arm, anytime a nurse would come by, she would yell and run to Brian.

The highlight may have been the flying monkey that the nurse insisted I shoot down the hallway of the hospital. The kids all got these flying monkey slingshot things that when you shoot them, they yell like monkeys as they fly a good 15-30 feet at minimum. They may have been my favorite thing the kids have gotten this year. You can see what I'm talking about at

Anyway, Merry Christmas and blessings beyond me

Funny funny things

Well, I've been needing some intelligent humor to tickle my funny bone. I started to reread The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore. I think he might just be one of my favorite writers because some of his stuff is so ridiculous that it's hysterical. I will warn that some might be offended by his works (he's no choir boy), but being the English major, some of his stuff is so well written that I can't help myself. There are times when I am reading his stuff and literally have to put the book down because I am laughing so hard. In his last book, You Suck, he has a teenage character in it that is so well articulated in mannerisms and vernacular that it is almost scary. I think my favorites by him are in no particular order... The Stupidest Angel, Lamb, ,Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck .

ANYWAY... I stumbled upon this link the other day and was crying at some points because it was so true and funny.

Enjoy and I will post some pics of the kids tomorrow (cause it's my birthday).

stop to smell the roses

There has been so much going on and so much that I've been trying to process about such a variety of things that I have been getting overwhelmed and then ignore all of it. I guess I keep hoping that it will just disappear. I do know that doesn't happen, but...

Life seems to happen so fast and trying to learn from life and the experiences and trying to keep the family together while Brian is gone with school is just hard. Something has to go and it has been that ability to just stop and think and contemplate.

While I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions, I do think that I might try to do it this year. I keep feeling as though life is just happening to me and that I don't really have any power to make choices or navigations to what will happen. I don't think that is how God wants for any of us to live life. We're not learning, we're not able to become a more perfect image of God and God's love. If I don't stop to sit and contemplate on my experiences and on that which is going on around me, then I am wasting the gift of life that God has given to me. I think I need to stop and smell the roses a bit more.

It's about time

We figured with so many out of town and busy raising families, a quick glimpse into what is going on at the Kershner household wasn't a bad idea. I'll try to keep pics of the kids updated (i guess it would help if i changed the battery in the camera) as much as possible since they are the ones people really want to see anyway.

Brian is currently on break until Jan. from the MBA program. 1 more year. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's been nice to actually feel like a family again and it gives us a glimpse at normalcy- whatever that is.

The kids are awesome! Zach is in the first grade and Hannah is in preschool. Elizabeth just goes along for the ride. Zach is really enjoying soccer and swimming. Hannah has taken to gymnastics and she is a little fish as well. Elizabeth just thinks she can do these things, so it can be interesting at times.

We're gearing up for Christmas and trying to keep the chaos down to a minimum. We're off to get a tree this morning and if the weather holds, we'll go to The Festival of Lights tonight. The kids are really excited about Christmas and all that comes with it. It's getting more and more fun the older they get.
